Benefits Of Sugaring
- Sugaring is carried out with care & respect for your skin, this is not like speed waxing that you may have experienced previously.
- Sugaring tends to feel less painful as it does not stick to the skin like wax so may suit people who have experienced discomfort through other forms of hair removal. Feedback from clients has been that it is definitely less painful than waxing.
- Sugaring removes the hair in the direction of growth (the opposite way to waxing) this causes less damage to the hair follicle so ingrowing hairs tend to be less if at all & your skin is left soft & smooth. Waxing can sometimes cause more ingrowing hairs as they can snap & it essentually changes the direction of the hair folical when pulled out against the natural hair growth direction.
- The sugar ball method of sugaring is more hygienic than waxing as there is no spatula to be continually returned to the pot with clients dead skin cells & blood spotting on it.
- Regular sugaring treatments encourages finer and sparser re growth. I have clients that have experienced slower growth, finer hair & patches where hair seems to not be growing back.
- Unlike wax wich contains resins, chemicals & preservatives, sugar paste is entirely natural leaving the skin smooth, silky & hair free up from 4 to 6 weeks dependant on your hair growth cycle.
- Sugar paste will not damage delicate facial tissue as more gentle on the skin than wax. Sugar paste is used at a very low temperature unlike wax which is applied warm/hot & therefor wax possibly damages delicate skin tissue with long term use.
- Safe for varicose veins, spider veins as applied at a lower temperature than wax so will not increase blood supply
- Safe for diabetics as sugar paste is not ingested during treatment & is not applied hot like wax therefore considered safe for most diabetics. It does not contain resins like wax which can tear the skin and pose a problem to a diabetic. If you are Diabetic sugaring is often a preferred method as other methods may cause skin damage but it is best to still check with your Doctor as to your suitability prior to any form of hair removal.
- Avoids burning your skin like some waxing methods may do. With hand sugaring I am always aware of the temperature of the paste as it is in my hand.
- Entirely natural & hypoallergenic so suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin & people who are allergic to wax. Sugar paste can not adhere to live skin cells and exfoliates the dead skin cells, this also makes it safe for dry itchy eczema and dry psoriasis leaving the new skin intact. Sugar is a natural healer for the skin.
- Sugar is a natural exfoliator so removes dead skin cells during the process.
- Reactions such as redness are less common & if any, disappear faster with sugaring.
- Hand sugaring can be more thorough as I can go over the area with & against the hair growth if required.
- Sugaring can be performed on shorter hairs than waxing when it is in it's early growth stage (anagen) so you can be hair free more regularly if you wish. Some hair as short as 5mm can be removed, however this is dependent on the treatment area and previous hair removal method. Hair removed for the first time, maybe more resistant, especially after shaving for many years.
- Sugaring is enviromentally friendly being completely biodegradable & contains no harmful chemicals or animal products & has not been tested on animals.
- Is Sugaring painful?
Everybody’s pain threshold is different, the best way to find out is to try it. Some of my clients that have had waxing previously say it is less painful & does not make the skin red like waxing does. You may have increased sensitivity if you have a hang over or drink lots of caffeine. If your period is due you may also be more sensitive than usual. If you take a pain killer an hour before your appointment this can help reduce sensitivity
- Will it stick to my clothes?
No, sugar paste is water soluble & easily removed from skin and clothing.

My Treatment Times are only approximate. I prefer not to rush your treatment so please do not compare this with speed waxing removal methods. All people are different, time taken depends on many things such as hair type, skin condition & your previous methods of hair removal, At your first appointment I carry out a full consultation and will then be able to give you an indication of your personal treatment times for each booking, please there for add an extra 20 mins to your first appointment to allow for this.
Sugaring Removal Method. I am trained in both strip sugaring, the same removal method as waxing using a paper strip, also the hand sugaring technique where a ball of sugar paste is applied by hand and removed with a flick of the hand. The sugar ball is GREAT especially for getting to difficult parts like bikini lines & small areas.
During your consultation & treatment we will put together a personalised treatment plan & decide which method is suitable for you, your hair type and area of removal, in most cases the sugar ball is the best removal method.
