Sugaring Before & After Treatment Advice
If you have a sensitive skin-Sugaring is safe to use on almost all hair and skin type even extremely sensitive. If you are prone to adverse reactions it is advisable to have a FREE patch tesh carried out.
Try to wear loose clothing to avoid rubbing on the newly sugared areas
Bring a spare pair of knickers or wear an older pair & if possible suit the style of the bikini line you would like.
- Make sure the hair is long enough! I recommend at least 5mm for your first visit especially if you have been shaving or using depilatory creams as the hair is stronger
- If possible please make sure your skin is clean, dry & free of moisturiser etc, understandably if you are coming straight from work then I have pre-lotions to cleanse the skin prior to your treatment
- Do not expose the skin to sun or a sun bed 24 hours before a treatment
- Do not apply moisturisers, creams, exfoliants or oils 24 hours before
- Do not go to the gym or an aerobics class on the same day
- Do not bathe in oils or receive massage with oils 24 hours before a treatment
No need to exfoliate for a couple of days prior to your appointment as the sugar paste removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin soft and smooth.
After Care Advice
Please note the aftercare after sugaring is different and not as stringent as after Waxing treatments.
- For great results 2/3 days after your treatment, it is important to regularly exfoliate and moisturise your skin. This will also make the hairs weaker & help to prevent ingrowing hairs.
- It is not recommended to use other methods of hair removal in between appointments as they can damage the hair follicle. Depilatory creams melt the hair and contain chemicals, shaving takes the hair from the surface and make the hair and root stronger, therefore encouraging regrowth. This will undo the positive results of your previous sugaring treatments. It is best to stick to one method of hair removal.
- Do not expose the skin to the sun or a sun bed for 24 hours after a treatment
- Do not use deodorants for at least 6 hours after under arm treatments
- Do have a warm shower or bath later and add natural bath salts but DO NOT have a hot bath or shower within 12 hours of having a treatment.
- Avoid perfumed soaps and products with chemical irritants for for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid make-up for approximately 12 hours after a sugaring treatment on the face. For 24 hours, avoid self tanning moisturisers and creams containing chemical exfoliators such as – “alpha hydroxi acid”, beta hydroxi acid, salicylic acid or glycolic acid.
Q.How often do I have to have the area sugared? This depends on the area treated & your rate of hair growth. A rough guide is 4-6 weeks between appointments. The more treatments you have the less you will have to come back over time. When I have carried out the first consultation & treatment I will be able to advise you. Moisturising and exfoliating your skin, between sugaring treatments, is important to receive continually good results & healthy skin Prevention of Ingrowing hairs Exfoliate the areas where you have been sugared regularly Moisturise daily to keep skin soft and hydrated so that dry skin does not prevent hair from growing through the skins surface.. Course hairs tend to cause more of a problem.so regular sugaring treatments may gradually make the hair finer. Avoid wearing tight clothes like jeans on a continaual bases if you have legs & bikini line hair removal.
